Project 18

Project 18 is a team effort among Peyton Manning, the medical team at Peyton Manning Children's Hospital at St.Vincent, Marsh Supermarkets, Ball State University, community members and educators like you. The goal is simple: to help kids and parents set goals, eat smarter, get active — and make childhood obesity in Indiana a thing of the past.

Nobody knows the importance of teamwork more than Peyton. In every game, he relies on his teammates to help him win. And growing up, he relied on family members, coaches, and teachers like you to help him understand the importance of making smart choices to stay healthy and achieve his goals.

Together, we can lower the number of overweight children in Indiana. We can do it by promoting health programs in local schools, endorsing healthy food choices and encouraging an active lifestyle among Indiana's children. Here a just a few of the Project 18 programs we'll be rolling out this year:

Down the Aisle. A healthy eating campaign hosted by Marsh Supermarkets, which helps families and children identify healthy, delicious kid-friendly foods.

Project 18 MVP. We will regularly highlight local high school students as “ Project 18 MVPs.” These exemplary individuals will serve as role models for younger children in the community.

Community Events. Several wellness events will be held throughout Central Indiana to raise communities' awareness of childhood obesity.

Project 18 Walks. Walkabouts will take place at each St.Vincent location to raise awareness of childhood obesity among St.Vincent Health associates and other community members.

The Project 18 Mobile Van. We'll take the Project 18 Van on the road, offering Hoosier kids a fun way to learn about healthy eating at schools and other community event locations.

Project 18 School Programs. These will provide Indiana schools with fun, relevant health curriculum that meets Indiana Health and Wellness Standards and is teacher, student and family friendly.
