Project 18

It takes a team to tackle childhood obesity.

Childhood obesity is a product of a combination of factors. Many of those factors, like the food kids eat and how they spend their time, are affected by the decisions adults make. That's why the active participation of parents, teachers and others is crucial to helping kids find their way to a healthy lifestyle.

The most valuable players on a child's team are the parents. And like any great team member, a parent must lead by example. Kids depend on you for so much, and this is never more true than when it comes to making healthy choices.

Project 18 provides a framework for you to help your child combat obesity. Think of it as your playbook. You are the head coach of your kids' team. You show them the way. Pat them on the back when they do well. Encourage them when times are tough. And surround them with other good teammates who can help make living healthy easier for them.

In the fight against childhood obesity, we all have to be team players. As you do your part on the team, you'll find it to be one of the most rewarding experiences of your life, too.
